Andre Karkamaz, LPC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in Therapy for College Students, Young Adults, Adults, and couples in Boulder, CO.

Andre’s Bio:
With expertise in attachment psychology and interpersonal effectiveness, I’ve been helping young adults, adults, couples, and families navigate life’s challenges since 2017. Based near CU Boulder, my private practice provides a welcoming, client-centered environment to support individuals in the Boulder community. I focus on fostering growth, connection, and emotional resilience through therapeutic interventions tailored to each client’s unique needs.

Practice Approach:
Do you feel stuck in a cycle of anxiety, self-doubt, or emptiness? Are you struggling to balance the demands of day-to-day life, work or academic pressures, relationships, or your own expectations? Whether you’re a CU Boulder student seeking guidance or a young adult navigating the complexities of life, I’m here to help. My approach is rooted in understanding your unique attachment patterns- how you connect with others and yourself. These patterns often stem from coping mechanisms that once served you but now feel restrictive or destructive. Together, we’ll uncover the origins of these struggles and work toward building healthier, more fulfilling relationships.

Using evidence-based techniques, I can help you:

  • Overcome academic or work-based stress and performance anxiety
  • Comprehend and work through depression and feelings of hopelessness
  • Manage relationship conflicts and improve interpersonal skills
  • Address feelings of isolation, loneliness, and social anxiety
  • Work through past traumas that affect present-day connections
  • Develop healthier boundaries and emotional resilience.

As a therapist for college students and young adults, I understand the unique challenges of navigating academic stress, relationships, and life’s transitions. My practice is designed to meet you where you are, with a compassionate and individualized approach.

Why Work with Me?
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, and finding the right therapist is essential. I strive to create a safe, empathetic, and nonjudgmental space where you can explore your struggles and begin healing. Together, we’ll identify and work through unhelpful patterns, empowering you to connect more deeply with yourself and others and find peace in the present moment.

If you’re ready to take the first step, I invite you to reach out for a free consultation. Let’s explore how we can work together to create a healthier relationship with yourself and those around you.

Adult Individual Therapy: I am dedicated to working with people who want to get at the roots of their emotional distress and personal suffering. Building a collaborative relationship in therapy is the single most important factor in therapeutic success. This relationship will be the keystone for facilitating your personal growth and understanding of yourself not just intellectually, but also emotionally. Over time, an internalized healing space forms where you can recover access to parts of your true self. Speaking freely without unnecessary self-censorship may be simple, but it is not easy. I encourage you to try.

Adolescent Individual Therapy: In my work with adolescents, I focus on helping them build the critical life skill of expressing their thoughts and feelings in words rather than actions. I do this by building a supportive therapeutic relationship where they feel safe to explore what’s really going on inside. In our work, they will learn to name and understand their emotions more clearly, strengthening their sense of self and helping them navigate the challenges of growing up.

Group Therapy: A relational psychoanalytic process group can be an enlivening, transformative experience that supports you in forming the relationships and sense of self that you long for. In this group, you will have opportunities to explore relational patterns as they emerge in the here and now. You can also take risks and try new ways of connecting with yourself and others.

My Approach: My practice is located in Boulder, CO, and online. I am psychoanalytically trained through the Colorado Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies, the New York Center for the Advancement of Group Studies, and the Chicago Institute for Clinical Social Work. My treatment approach is informed by relational and classical psychoanalysis, interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory, somatic psychology, contemplative psychotherapy, and existential philosophy.
