I specialize in working with teens, families, and young adults. For over 20 years, I have served youth in the community as a coach, teacher, mentor, day treatment specialist, substance abuse counselor and family therapist. My dynamic and varied experience allows me to offer a unique and customized skill set to match the needs of the individual client and/or family.
Teens and Families: When a teen is struggling, so is their family. I have successfully worked with a wide range of teen and family issues, such as video game and screen addiction, anger management, academic achievement, and substance abuse. Whether you want your teen to get more out of life or are concerned about behaviors/symptoms that are destabilizing your child’s well-being, I can help. My clients have someone to help them discover and utilize their inherent strengths. Through the therapeutic process, you will receive parent coaching and your family will have the opportunity to improve communication and deepen connections.
Young Adults: My work with young adults often takes the form of a coaching/mentoring relationship. I help clients increase their willingness to create a satisfying, meaningful life. We work on issues related to independence, autonomy, life skills, career, intimacy, and may include substance use, pornography, and internet/gaming addiction, as well. Through building a safe, authentic connection, I support and challenge my clients to step more fully and confidently into the world and bravely blaze their own trail.
Community-based Therapy: In my one-on-one work with teens and young adults, I often take therapy out of the office and into the community. I am able to combine the presence of a counselor with the modeling and coaching of a mentor. This service helps my clients experience life’s possibilities and practice new skills in a relaxed, yet lively setting.
