FOR 12 YEARS WE HAVE TAUGHT BASIC ACADEMIC SKILLS ONE-TO-ONE AND HAVE MADE A PROFOUND DIFFERENCE IN OUR STUDENTS LIVES. WE ARE NOW OFFERING ON-GOING SMALL- GROUP INSTRUCTION:

Language for Learning - ages 4 to 6, morning classes, two times a week, from 10 am to 11 am, or 11 am to noon. Provides essential building blocks for verbal and reading comprehension which builds vocabulary and classroom skills. Cost for 6 weeks: $135/child

MATH Instruction:
Algebra 11, Geometry, Calculus, Trigonometry
Six-Week Evening Program: 6 to 7 pm or 7 to 8 pm
Minimum of 3 students, Monday – Thursday
Cost: $185 for Six Weeks with veteran math instructor Bob Powers.

Dynamic Writing Workshops
For students in grades 7 - 9 AND 10 - 12, early evenings. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the conventions of writing and develop strategies for improvement. They will receive both group and individualized instruction in writing mechanics and practice using skills such as brainstorming, outlining, pre-writing, revising, editing, and publishing in a safe, comfortable environment.
Cost: $225 for a 6-week (12 hour) program.

PARENTING YOUR ADOPTED CHILD: Problems and solutions

Parents will learn about the unique challenges that adopted children face and potential impacts on parent-child relationships, self-image, and adolescent development.

With the support of experienced therapists, Harmony Barrett Isaacs, MA, and Tracy Markle, MA, LPC, and fellow parents you will: Learn how to regain control of your home and guide your children to accept responsibility for their out-of-control behavior. Receive support in time of crisis. Recognize your strengths as a parent Learn positive coping skills Be able to re-focus anger and use its energy in positive ways Gain new information, ideas and resources.
Parent groups meet weekly and are ongoing and are entirely confidential.

Understanding Your Middle School Child
Presenter: Marcela Ot’alora G. LPC
Discover effective ways of communicating and understanding your child during the roller coaster ride of middle school.
Marcela Ot’alora G. LPC has led workshops, and talks for parents and adolescents in both English and Spanish in the United States and in Spain. Specializing in the use of art as a vehicle for self-awareness, and transition, she is currently in private practice working with individuals, couples, and groups.

Ann Kloos is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Addiction Counselor. Since 1990, she has worked in a variety of settings that include Psychiatric Hospitals, Mental Health Centers, and Justice Systems. She opened her Private Practice in 1995. Ann presently works part time for The Addiction Recovery Center.
Lauri Benblatt, MA, LPC is a Psychotherapist and Art Therapist with a private practice in Boulder County where she sees individuals and groups. She is a member of Boulder Psychological Services, is a cofounder of the Boulder County Eating Disorders Coalition, and is involved with International Trauma and HIV/AIDS work.
Stuart Marshall is a licensed professional counselor with an established private practice in Boulder. He specializes in healing family related issues. Drawing from his personal and professional wilderness experience, Stuart uses both experiential and traditional therapies to help create healthy relationships, while empowering insight and change.
Parents will be provided with insights into teen depression; identifying symptoms, effectively communicating with your child, available resources & knowing when to get help.
Director of Counseling at an alternative high school for 16 years, Karen still enjoys working with adolescents. She has a private practice working with individuals, adults, couples and families. Karen also works with several community non-profits.
Counseling adolescents, adults, and families in Boulder since 1996, Elizabeth received her initial training at the Pacifica Graduate Institute in California with an emphasis in Jungian theory. Incorporating several theoretical orientations, Elizabeth’s common sense therapeutic approach to a healthy mind, body and spirit is communicated with empathy, humor and professionalism.
